This was one of my favorite reads last year and based on your interest/liking for Ira's story, I think you'd really like this one too (takes place during World War II).Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03209949145997932361noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3804997536005419946.post-17316761694685589242010-04-17T15:24:34.617-04:002010-04-17T15:24:34.617-04:00Thanks...I'll check that out...I think his sto...Thanks...I'll check that out...I think his story reads poignantly with Odesseus. In fact, I was just talking to his daughter today, and she added that Ira's half brothers, the ones who turned their backs on him and sold the farm, relied on Ira in their old age to take care of them when they needed a shave and etc...Of course Ira is too class an act to have told me that himself...oh the ironies...thanks for checking back...Ronald Rabenoldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14527709656760280300noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3804997536005419946.post-66331564290237782252010-04-16T11:09:17.044-04:002010-04-16T11:09:17.044-04:00Okay, got side-lined the last few weeks, and am ju...Okay, got side-lined the last few weeks, and am just getting caught up. This guy's life has the makings of a great book (hint, hint). Have you ever seen the movie, Saints and Soldiers? It is a fantastic independent film that won numerous awards and has a very similar feel to the story of Ira Smith--only the ending is very different. I highly recommend it.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03209949145997932361noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3804997536005419946.post-11675789574778034342010-04-01T13:46:37.093-04:002010-04-01T13:46:37.093-04:00THANX Ben...Looking forward to reading your book.....THANX Ben...Looking forward to reading your book...fascinating plot...Regards, RonRonald Rabenoldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14527709656760280300noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3804997536005419946.post-47298996738951185592010-04-01T10:50:19.452-04:002010-04-01T10:50:19.452-04:00I love real-life stories.
